Interior Minister Çiftçi responds to NATO Summit criticisms: No measure is arbitrary
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi made a statement regarding the steps taken within the scope of the NATO Summit to be held in Ankara. While questions from citizens as to why such steps were not taken to facilitate daily life until now remained unanswered, Çiftçi stated that "no measure is arbitrary" while providing updates on the latest developments.
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi made a statement on his social media account regarding the NATO Leaders' Summit to be held in Ankara on July 7-8.
Minister Çiftçi used the following expressions in his statement:
The NATO Leaders' Summit is not just a diplomatic meeting; it is one of the most important consultation platforms of the global security architecture.
While hosting such a large and strategic organization in Ankara on July 7-8, none of the measures taken are arbitrary. Every practice has been planned with international security standards, risk analyses, and strong coordination between our institutions.
Our goal is to ensure the safety of guest delegations, our assigned personnel, and our dear nation at the highest level while affecting the daily lives of our citizens to the minimum extent.
Security and traffic measures will be meticulously implemented, especially at the Presidential Complex and Congresium, as well as at hotels where delegations will stay, airports, transit routes, and entry points to Ankara; our routes will be kept open for pedestrian traffic.
A total of 56 thousand 288 personnel and 4 thousand 405 teams/units from our Police and Gendarmerie organizations will be on duty at the summit.
At airports, the Presidential Complex, routes, and hotels, our personnel, vehicles, technical equipment, and specially trained dogs will be on duty on a 24-hour basis against all possible security risks.
All measures taken are temporary; they are for our common security, the safety of our guests, and a strong hospitality that befits our country.
The patience and support that our fellow citizens in Ankara and our dear nation will show will make a significant contribution to the successful completion of this major organization to be held under Turkey's hostship. I would like to thank our citizens in advance for their understanding.
NATO Liderler Zirvesi; yalnızca bir diplomasi buluşması değil, küresel güvenlik mimarisinin en önemli istişare zeminlerinden biridir.
