ISIS operation in Istanbul: 6 suspects in custody
In an operation conducted against the terrorist organization ISIS in Istanbul, 6 suspects were apprehended, including individuals identified as part of the organization's so-called migration and logistics committee. Efforts are ongoing to capture 4 of the 10 individuals for whom detention warrants were issued.
Under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a comprehensive operation was carried out against the ISIS armed terrorist organization. During the investigations, 4 suspects were identified in connection with an individual determined to be operating at a leadership level within the organization.
It was assessed that these individuals were operating within the organization's so-called "migration and logistics committee."
DECISION REGARDING 6 FOREIGN TERRORIST FIGHTERS
Within the scope of the operation, detention warrants were also issued for 6 foreign national "terrorist fighters" who were determined to be in contact with conflict zones and to pose a security risk to Turkey.
Intelligence was obtained indicating that these individuals were linked to ISIS's domestic and international structures.
DETENTION WARRANTS FOR 10 SUSPECTS
Following the instructions of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detention warrants were issued for a total of 10 suspects. 6 people were apprehended in simultaneous operations conducted by Istanbul Police Department teams.
