Istanbul Governor Gül:

Governor Gül visited police officers on duty in Taksim Square and its surroundings in Beyoğlu, one of the areas where New Year's Eve celebrations are most intense in Istanbul.

Congratulating the security personnel on the new year, Gül stated in his remarks here that various measures have been taken in Istanbul, as in all parts of Turkey, to ensure that citizens spend the New Year in a peaceful and safe manner.

Noting that the police, gendarmerie, coast guard, and other institutions and organizations are working together 24/7, Gül said, "We are in Taksim today as well. Thank God, with the measures taken, we have not encountered any very serious incidents in terms of public order, traffic, or other matters.

I would like to thank our police force, our gendarmerie force, the coast guard, our district governors who coordinated these efforts, the Migration Management, and all our public institutions and organizations for their contributions. May God grant us a 2024 without accidents or trouble, and may no harm come to our security forces.

On this occasion, I wish God's mercy upon our martyrs. I pray to God that our country will never face such pain again," he said.

Governor Gül later conducted inspections on Istiklal Avenue alongside Provincial Police Chief Zafer Aktaş and Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General Yusuf Kenan Topcu.
