Job ad from a 70-year-old citizen... 'I have no health problems, I can work 4-5 hours'
The decline in purchasing power and the high cost of living have once again been highlighted by a job search ad from a 70-year-old citizen. The ad, posted on utility poles in Beşiktaş, stated, "I am 70 years old, I have no health problems. I can work 4-5 hours."
The effects of the economic crisis in Turkey, which has deepened significantly especially since the pandemic, continue to be felt. Everyone, from students to families, is affected by the decline in purchasing power caused by the high cost of living.
Retirees are among the groups most heavily burdened by the cost of the crisis. Due to low pension payments, retirees who should be resting at home or traveling the world are forced to work in Turkey.
A job ad posted on utility poles in Istanbul's Beşiktaş district by a citizen named Mustafa, one of those retirees, has once again laid bare the state of the economy.
'I HAVE NO HEALTH PROBLEMS...'
The job ad, handwritten by the 70-year-old retiree, included the following statements:
“I am looking for work: I am 70 years old. I understand welding, plumbing, and roofing work. I can do garden maintenance. I have no health problems. I can work 4-5 hours a day.”
