During a march held by a group in the Nusaybin district of Mardin, a Turkish flag located on the border line was taken down. The incident caused widespread public outcry. At that moment, prior to a meeting and march held at the border park in Nusaybin, it was observed that some groups headed toward the border line and removed the Turkish flag from its place.

Following the incident, while relevant authorities confirmed that the flag had been taken down, public reactions were swift.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş expressed his reaction in a statement on his social media account: "I condemn the attack on our glorious Turkish flag carried out by supporters of the terrorist organization YPG. Such provocations, regardless of who they come from or where they originate, will never achieve their goal. We will not abandon our unity and brotherhood."

While Yavaş's statements quickly became a national agenda item, it was noted that the flag incident is being evaluated as part of the rising tensions in the region recently.

It was also noted that the DEM Party held its weekly group meeting in Nusaybin, outside the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), during the incident. Following the march to the Border Park before the meeting, a group advanced to the border area, leading to the incident where the flag was taken down.

It was reported that authorized institutions and security forces are continuing their investigation into the incident and that security measures have been increased in border areas.
