Minister Çiftçi points to the reliability of official institutions via Ahbap: 'The cronyism scandal has revealed it'
Interior Minister Çiftçi met at the 5th Parliamentary Consultation and Evaluation Meeting held at the Gölbaşı Vilayetler Evi, coordinated by AKP Group Deputy Chairman Bahadır Nahit Yenişehirlioğlu and attended by Interior Commission Chairman Süleyman Soylu and members of parliament.
Çiftçi made evaluations regarding the work carried out by AFAD in the earthquake zone, as well as its humanitarian aid activities both domestically and internationally.
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi stated that aid received from the state and the nation is delivered to citizens entirely through AFAD in proportion to the needs of those requiring assistance, saying, "The fact that the scandals of cronyism have been laid bare in this way has once again demonstrated the reliability of our official institutions."
Stating that approximately 147 billion liras in donations were collected in the aid campaigns carried out following the February 6 earthquakes, Çiftçi said, "To date, 137 billion liras of these funds have been spent.
The remaining 10 billion liras will be used for the connecting roads of the houses built in the earthquake zones and for urgent works that need to be completed."
Expressing that the lottery for 455 thousand 357 independent units in the earthquake zone has been drawn, Minister Çiftçi stated that 1 trillion 885 billion 114 million liras have been transferred to the relevant institutions by AFAD to date.
Emphasizing that Turkey delivers humanitarian aid to 85 countries and communities across five continents, Çiftçi said, "We all know the sensitivity and awareness of our people regarding this matter.
We continue to deliver their aid to people in need in different parts of the world through AFAD."
