Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı: 'There are no fires causing concern'
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made a statement regarding the forest fires in recent days.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı monitored the efforts to extinguish forest fires in the Yava neighborhood of Yatağan and the Karadere area of Ula district in Muğla by helicopter.
Later arriving at the Ula Fire Management Center, Yumaklı told reporters that he had been providing updates on the forest fires since the morning.
Stating that he had previously announced that the Yamanlar fire in the Karşıyaka district of İzmir had been brought under control, Yumaklı said, "I had mentioned that the energy of the fire continuing on both sides of the Tahtalı Dam in the Menderes district of İzmir had been reduced. Our teams are continuing their intervention. Due to the rugged, rocky terrain and access issues, interventions are continuing by reaching the area through different routes, opening roads, and connecting hoses to one another. The intervention will continue throughout the night. There is no situation that poses a danger," he said.
Touching upon the second fire, which spread over a large area in the Bozdoğan district of Aydın, and reporting that there are no remaining problems and that it has been largely brought under control, Yumaklı said, "The forest fire in the Ovacık district of Karabük has been brought under control as of now. One of the 5 fires has been brought under control. The efforts to extinguish the Manisa Gördes fire are largely complete, but cooling operations will continue through the night. We can provide information after the final checks as of tomorrow morning," he said.
"THERE IS NO FIRE THAT WILL CAUSE US CONCERN"
Minister Yumaklı emphasized that control has also been largely established in the fire in Eşme, Uşak, but that cooling operations are continuing, adding that they would provide the latest information tomorrow.
Noting that the teams are putting up an intense struggle, Yumaklı said, "From Thursday morning until this hour, a total of 247 fires have been intervened in, 109 of which were forest fires and 138 of which were rural fires; 241 of these have been brought under control. I would like to thank everyone who supported us in bringing these 241 fires under control. As of now, there is no fire that will cause us concern. However, we will share the results of those where intervention is ongoing, where the energy has been reduced, which have been largely brought under control, or which will provide us with good news by tomorrow," he stated.
