Murder at the SGK building in Yalova: Suspect sent to prison

In the incident that took place yesterday at the SGK Provincial Directorate building on Şehit Ömer Faydalı Street, 57-year-old H.H., who was in a legal dispute with the institution regarding retirement procedures, met with institution lawyer Zekeriya Polat to discuss litigation costs and an enforcement file opened against him. During the meeting, an argument broke out between the parties, and H.H. drew his handgun and fired at 31-year-old Zekeriya Polat.

Polat, who was critically wounded, was rushed to the nearest private hospital by ambulance following initial intervention at the scene; however, he lost his life despite all efforts by doctors.

Following the incident, the suspect H.H. was quickly apprehended and taken into custody thanks to the rapid response of the police. After completing the procedures at the police station, the suspect was referred to the courthouse, where he was arrested by the duty magistrate and sent to prison.

The death of Zekeriya Polat caused great sorrow among his colleagues in Yalova. It was reported that the judicial investigation into the incident is ongoing.
