New details revealed in 'Convention' investigation into CHP: Secret witness correction

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation into allegations that the CHP's convention held on November 4-5, 2023, was dubious, a move that caused activity within the CHP.

In the investigation, which accelerated the pulse of the political world, sources from the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that the accusations mentioned in the file do not fall under the catalog crimes defined in the Criminal Procedure Code.

'NOT AMONG CATALOG CRIMES'

It was emphasized that the investigation is not new, according to Article 112 of the Law on Political Parties and other relevant legislative provisions.

According to information conveyed by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office sources, it was pointed out that the accusations regarding the CHP's 38th Ordinary Convention are not among the catalog crimes specified in Article 153 of the Criminal Procedure Code No. 5271. Therefore, it was underlined that a restriction order is not legally possible.

'SECRET WITNESS METHOD WAS NOT EMPLOYED'

Emphasizing that the investigation has been ongoing since January 2024, it was announced that the method of hearing secret witnesses was not employed within the scope of the investigation. On the other hand, the message was given that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is continuing the investigation meticulously.
