Operation against organized crime group in Istanbul! $16.2 million seized

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that a simultaneous operation was carried out by gendarmerie teams against an organized crime group operating in Istanbul, led by Ü.E. As part of the operation, raids were conducted on 24 different addresses, and 26 people, including the group leader Ü.E., were detained.

Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that the suspects carried out armed attacks on various businesses across the city, played a role in a murder case, and forcibly seized properties belonging to some businesspeople. Legal proceedings were initiated against them on serious charges including “establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes,” “intentional homicide,” “threat with a weapon,” “intentional injury,” “qualified robbery,” and “violation of the Law on Firearms No. 6136.”

While 21 of the detained suspects were arrested by the court, judicial control measures were applied to 5 people. As a result of the examinations conducted by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), assets belonging to the suspects, including 2 hotels, movable properties, and cash in foreign currency, totaling $16.2 million in value, were seized.

During the operation, 10 unlicensed pistols, 1 ballistic vest, and numerous sharp and piercing tools were also seized.
