Police officer Tayfun Akalan, who served in the Van Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch, has passed away at the hospital where he was taken after being seriously injured in a traffic accident.
It was reported that Akalan could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital. Following the tragic news, Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi published a message of condolence on his social media account.
Police Officer Tayfun Akalan, serving in the Van Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch, was injured in a traffic accident and has passed away despite all interventions at the hospital where he was taken. I pray for God's mercy upon our martyr; I extend my condolences to his grieving family, our heroic Police Organization, and our Nation. May our martyr's place be high.
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş also published a message, wishing God's mercy upon Tayfun Akalan and patience for his family and loved ones.
In her post, Göktaş included the words, "May our nation be comforted."
