The latest developments in Syria, as well as regional and global issues, were discussed during the meeting.

During the conversation with Meloni, President Erdoğan stated that Israeli aggression has now manifested in Syria, and that this stance does not contribute to the stability of Syria.

HE HELD TALKS WITH THE NATO SECRETARY GENERAL

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte shared a post on his social media account regarding his phone call with President Erdoğan about Syria. Describing it as a productive conversation, Rutte characterized the situation in Syria by saying, "This is a moment of joy for millions of people, but also a moment of uncertainty."

Rutte stated, "We hope for a peaceful transition, respect for the rule of law, and the protection of minorities. Russia and Iran have been complicit in (Bashar) Assad's crimes."

A post on the social media account of the Presidency's Directorate of Communications also reported that during the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey has advocated for the preservation of Syria's territorial integrity and stability since the very first day the civil war in Syria began, and that Syria should be governed by the Syrian people, adding that Turkey will continue to do its utmost for the construction of a unified Syria that is cleared of terrorism.
