Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan warns 7 regions

Following the massive destruction caused by the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, seismologists continue to issue warnings about active faults and regions expected to experience earthquakes, particularly the Marmara Region.

Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan drew attention to seven regions, stating, "Even if there were no earthquakes anywhere else in Turkey, they would happen here."

Sharing on his social media account, Ercan used the following expressions:

"Even if there were no earthquakes anywhere else in Turkey, they would occur in Karlıova-Bingöl, Erzincan, Denizli, the Sakarya Basin, the Lesbos Triangle, Cape Teke, and the Lakes Region."

'SOONER OR LATER IT WILL HAPPEN'

Following the recent earthquakes in Sivas and Adıyaman, seismologist Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan, who drew attention to the East Anatolian Fault line, had previously stated, "Anatolia continues to experience widespread stress at the country scale with the M4.0 in Adıyaman, the M4.5 in Sivas-Gürün via the Bitlis-Zagros thrust, and along the North Anatolian Fault (NAF). Sooner or later, an earthquake will occur where the tension overcomes the resistance of the ground."
