Members of Eğitim İlke-Sen, known for their Islamic, anti-capitalist, and anti-imperialist stance and their opposition to international military and political alliances, particularly NATO, gathered in Üsküdar Square to express their reaction to the motion decision.

Eğitim İlke-Sen Chairman Ahmet Örs, who made the press statement on behalf of the group, harshly criticized the government's foreign policy choices and the motion brought to the Parliament's agenda. Arguing that the agreement signed on August 7 is not in the interest of the region's peoples, Örs stated that they oppose the integration of Turkey into the military policies of global and regional powers.

The motion, which provides for Turkey to provide military support to the Saudi Arabian administration within the scope of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed on August 7, has been sent to the TBMM by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As is known, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman signed the agreement in question in Mecca on August 7.
Let us state from the beginning that this new organization, known in the public as the Mecca Alliance, is a result of the 36th NATO summit held in Ankara on July 7-8, 2026, and is again an extension of NATO in our region. The fact that "Mecca," which Muslims mention with reverence, is included in the name of such an alliance is entirely a perception operation and is for manipulation purposes.
We strongly reject the inclusion of the name "Mecca" in the name of this alliance, which is an open organization of collaboration and betrayal.
First of all, this should be known as such!
Let us not pass without reminding here what those who produced the lie that Yemen targeted the Kaaba to provoke the world's Muslims did: In Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, US pop singer Jennifer Lopez took the stage in a swimsuit at an entertainment festival organized by the traitorous Saudi regime's crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, which does not align with any value of Islam.
