Scandalous correspondence between Tuncay Sonel and Gökhan Ertok in the Gülistan Doku investigation revealed! 'I will destroy those who wear you down, Governor'
WhatsApp messages that emerged as part of the Gülistan Doku investigation have highlighted exchanges between the then-Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel and police officer Gökhan Ertok. In the correspondence, Sonel is seen saying, "Do what is necessary, brother," while Ertok states, "I will destroy those who wear people like you down."
Details of WhatsApp correspondence between police officer Gökhan Ertok, who was arrested and dismissed from his profession as part of the Gülistan Doku investigation, and the then-Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel have emerged.
According to the correspondence entered into the case file, Sonel requested the identification of social media users who made posts about him. Ertok claimed that he had raided a person's home in Ankara and tortured them, and later took action against another user he identified in Samsun. The correspondence also included statements regarding a foreign national woman being sent abroad and her phone being taken and replaced with a tracked phone.
"DO WHAT IS NECESSARY, BROTHER"
According to the correspondence in the file, Ertok sent the following message to Sonel:
"My dear Governor, I swear we haven't slept. Together with two of my friends, we will reach a clear result in 1 hour. We scanned 7 million VPNs, 870 thousand remain. I promise you will have the clear result in your hands."
Upon this, Sonel replied, "Do what is necessary, brother," and Ertok was seen using the following expressions:
"To the end, my dear Governor. I say this from the heart, I love you. I will destroy those who wear people like you down."
"I CAN SCARE THEM, MY DEAR GOVERNOR"
In another exchange, it was reported that Ertok sent a message stating he wanted to go to Samsun for a social media user he claimed to have identified:
"If you deem it appropriate, I can get the necessary support from the budget branch and set off before five o'clock. I can clear the electronic materials used by the person for a definitive solution with my team, and I can scare them as if I came from Ankara for a different duty and purpose, my dear Governor. We will be there before nightfall, sir."
ERTOK: "I WROTE IT TO GET INTO THE GOVERNOR'S GOOD GRACES"
In his prosecutor's statement, Ertok claimed that many of the events he described in the correspondence were fabricated.
"I hadn't been able to identify this account at the time. I sent messages like this to get into the Governor's good graces and not to be embarrassed. I found the photo of a man who had been beaten and was lying on the ground in blood from the narcotics WhatsApp group I worked in at the time and sent it to the Governor."
Ertok also confirmed that Sonel sent him money through Şükrü Eroğlu. Stating that he was retired due to a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, Ertok expressed that Sonel did not support him during the retirement process.
To the question, "Although your place of duty was Ankara, in what capacity did you receive such an order from the Tunceli Governor?" he gave the following answer:
"It was Mehmet Aca who introduced me to Tuncay Sonel. He had said, 'Do all the Governor's work.' After all, I was working at his workplace."
Ertok stated that he called Mehmet Aca after the request regarding the examination of the spare SIM card belonging to Gülistan Doku, saying, "Mehmet Aca told me, 'I am aware, you do what is necessary.'"
NEW ARREST IN THE INVESTIGATION
Security guard Fatih Özmen and businessman Okan Yarıcı, who were detained in the second wave of the investigation, were referred to the courthouse.
The court arrested Özmen, who is considered to have disposed of Doku's lifeless body, on charges of "intentional killing" and "concealing or destroying evidence of a crime." Okan Yarıcı was released under judicial control conditions.
The Doku family reacted during the referral of Handan Sonel, the wife of former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, IT company owner Mehmet Aca, and former security guard chief Yılmaz Arslan to the courthouse. Doku's mother, Bedriye Doku, shouted, "Murderers."
DIGITAL DATA IN THE VEHICLE EXAMINED
In the investigation, it was determined that the BMW used by Mustafa Türkay Sonel during the period when Gülistan Doku disappeared was later sold, and another vehicle of the same color and model began to be used.
According to the report by Tolga Şardan from T24, it was determined in the technical examination carried out on the vehicle found upon the prosecutor's instruction that the digital data card had been formatted three times on different dates. It was reported that the deleted data could not be reached in the work carried out.
On the other hand, it was learned that the judicial process regarding the extradition of the fugitive suspect Umut Altaş, who was detained in the USA, to Turkey is ongoing, the prosecutor's office has submitted an opinion in favor of extradition, and the court has adjourned the hearing.
