A new development has occurred in the investigation that began after two German businesspeople filed a complaint against YENİ Party Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül and his family, alleging they were defrauded following a 32 million euro mansion sale, a 100 million euro blocked transfer, and a suspicious 1.5 million euro boat transfer. It has been learned that the investigation has been expanded in line with the testimony of a secret witness codenamed “A3M2LK48”.
According to a report by Sabah, it is alleged that the billion-dollar unregistered money, which is claimed to have been obtained from zoning rents during Sarıgül and his family's tenure at the Şişli Municipality, was funneled into the system through Altınbaş Holding, the Titanic Hotel partnership in Belek, and shopping malls and real estate abroad. Twelve more people were detained in the third wave of operations carried out within the scope of the investigation.
12 MORE PEOPLE DETAINED
Among those detained in the latest operation were Altınbaş Holding Chairman of the Board Sofu Altınbaş, who is alleged to be the safe for 600 million euros in bribes, and Titanic Hotels Vice President Temel Aygün. It was claimed that Aygün presented Sarıgül as a silent partner and assisted in money laundering activities.
Other suspects detained include former Private Secretary Hulki Şavkın and former Culture Manager Kenan Malkoç, who served at the Şişli Municipality during Sarıgül's mayoral term. The operation also saw the detention of architect and urban planner Erhan Naci İşözen, businesspeople Eyüp Ensar Saral, Seyfettin Tayfun Kahyaoğlu, and Oktay Özkan, as well as Eyüp Birgün, contractor Selami Cengiz, Ramazan Argün, and İbrahim Avcı.
Sixteen of the suspects detained in the first operation of the investigation, carried out on October 16, were arrested. Among those arrested were Mustafa Sarıgül's sons Ömer and Emir Sarıgül, as well as his ex-wife Aylin Kotil.
DID SARIGÜL’S SECURITY GUARD REQUEST EFFECTIVE REMORSE?
In the second phase of the investigation, 5 suspects, including Mustafa Sarıgül's security guard Beşir Ömer Demir, were detained on October 23.
Suspects Cihan Tunç, Çağlar Sezgin, and Ümit İlker Avcı were arrested and sent to prison the day before yesterday. House arrest was ordered for Sarıgül's personal security guard Ömer Demir and Atakan Eren.
With the latest arrests, the number of detainees in the investigation has risen to 19. Meanwhile, it has been alleged that Ömer Demir has requested to benefit from effective remorse provisions within the scope of the investigation.
