Sedat Savtak, who played the character Kaşifoğlu in Kurtlar Vadisi, speaks out: 'I realized he was a member of the MIT'

Actor Sedat Savtak, who played the character Kazım Kaşifoğlu in the TV series Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu, has responded to claims that the character was a reference to former MIT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu.

While the investigation into the death of Kaşif Kozinoğlu in prison in 2011 remains a topic of discussion, the character Kaşifoğlu in the series has also become a focus of debate. In a live broadcast on CNN TÜRK, Savtak stated that he was not given any information during filming as to whether the character was inspired by the real-life Kozinoğlu.

Savtak noted that he realized the character was a member of the MIT in the later episodes of the script, stating that as an actor, he prepared only within the framework of the role given to him.

In the developing episodes of the script, I realized from the structure of the character and what was written there that he was a member of the MIT. Whatever the script is, that is the framework. We research according to the series and the script, and we prepare accordingly. No information about the real-life Kozinoğlu was conveyed to me. I was just given the character, given the role. Therefore, we filmed the rest on set with our director.

Savtak explained that he learned the news of Kozinoğlu's death from a newspaper after filming. The actor expressed his surprise when he saw his own photo next to Kozinoğlu's in a newspaper at the time, saying the news was unexpected for him as well.

I don't remember if that episode had aired or not, but the news of his death was published after we filmed it. I was very surprised when my picture and his picture were put side by side in a newspaper headline. I learned the news of his death from the newspaper. It was said he 'died of a heart attack.' That is how we had filmed it too.
