In a statement issued by the General Directorate of Security (EGM), it was stated that news reports titled 'Controversial protection decision from the Ministry of Interior: Judges and prosecutors will call 155 for security' do not reflect the truth.
The General Directorate of Security (EGM) issued the following press statement regarding reports appearing in some media outlets titled 'Controversial protection decision from the Ministry of Interior: Judges and prosecutors will call 155 for security'.
The statement expressed that protection services are carried out within the scope of Article 20 of the Anti-Terror Law No. 3713, and are finalized by evaluating threat information obtained from intelligence and counter-terrorism units along with the opinions of relevant institutions.
The statement, which noted that protection services are provided in three ways: 'Protection on Call, Close Protection, and Special Protection', shared the following information: "Within the scope of the relevant legislation, protection measures deemed appropriate by the commission are applied to our members of the judiciary who are determined to be under terrorist threat. These tasks and procedures are carried out by a commission consisting of representatives of the relevant institutions/organizations, and decisions are taken by majority vote. It is understood that the representative of the relevant Ministry in the Central Protection Commission did not have any objections to the decisions taken for our members of the judiciary in the commission, but only disagreed with the method of implementation of 10 protection decisions. A re-evaluation is being conducted by the Central Protection Commission regarding the decisions subject to objection."
It was also stated that the claims in the news reports regarding judges and prosecutors calling 155 for security absolutely do not reflect the truth, and it was further expressed that institutions were being targeted in a deliberate manner.
