Stunning incident in Antalya: She gave her baby to another man in exchange for money!

A verdict has been reached in the case heard in Antalya regarding A.R. (32), a Kyrgyz national, S.M. (48), and Z.E.K. (46). In the final hearing held last week at the Antalya 29th Criminal Court of First Instance, the court ruled that the defendants committed the crime together.

According to the allegations, A.R., a mother of three who came to Turkey some time ago, was abandoned by her husband while she was pregnant with her fourth child. A.R., who settled in a shelter with her three children, began seeking help, thinking she would not be able to care for her unborn baby.

A.R. contacted Z.E.K., who worked as a hospital attendant in the city, and conveyed that she wanted to give her baby up for adoption. Z.E.K. then connected with a man named S.M., who did not have any children, and brought the parties together. It was stated that A.R. and S.M. met and agreed that the child would be given up for adoption following the birth.

CIVIL REGISTRATION PROCESS

It was reported that after the birth, which took place at a private hospital in September 2022, A.R., S.M., and Z.E.K. went to the Kepez District Population Directorate to make a declaration, and the baby girl was registered as if she were S.M.'s child.

BABY NAMED AFTER THE INTERMEDIARY

The baby, named E.M., was given the name of the intermediary, Z.E.K., and was taken to Salihli, where S.M. lives.

The incident came to light in 2024 when A.R. went to a police station to file a complaint. In her initial statement, she claimed that Z.E.K. had threatened her by saying, "You don't have a visa, you will be deported, give the child to them," and that she was forced to register the baby under S.M.'s name for this reason.

However, in a new statement taken last year, A.R. withdrew her complaint, stating, "I was not in a position to look after the child, I gave her away of my own free will."

The other defendants also argued in their defense in court that the procedures were carried out with the mother's consent and that there was no intent to commit a crime.

10 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT EACH

In light of the evidence collected, the court sentenced A.R., S.M., and Z.E.K. to 10 months in prison each for the crime of "changing the lineage of a child."
