Tick bite claims a life in Sivas: 35-year-old woman passes away

A 35-year-old mother of two, who was hospitalized in the Zara district of Sivas with suspected Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) following a tick bite, has passed away. The number of tick-borne deaths in the city has risen to 2.

Tick bite claims a life in Sivas: 35-year-old woman passes away

A 35-year-old mother of two named Ç.K., who was engaged in livestock farming in the village of İlice in Sivas's Zara district, was bitten by a tick. After falling ill some time later, Ç.K. was taken to Zara State Hospital by her relatives.

Following initial treatment there, her condition worsened and she was transferred to the Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. Ç.K., who was treated under suspicion of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), could not be saved despite all medical interventions.

While the funeral of Ç.K. was taken to the village of İlice for burial, the number of people who have died from tick-related cases in the city has risen to 2.
