Umbrella name for Saadet, DEVA, and Gelecek Party determined
Saadet, DEVA, and Gelecek Party have completed their efforts to form a joint parliamentary group; the name of the joint group will be "Yeni Yol" (New Path).
Following the completion of all preparations regarding the new group, the deputies and management staff of the three parties will come together in the new group in the coming period.
THE NAME OF THE NEW GROUP IS 'YENİ YOL'
In a written statement, Saadet Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan stated that he met with DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan and Gelecek Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu in the evening and concluded the work regarding the joint group structure in Parliament with a consensus.
In his statement, Arıkan used the expression, "The chairmen have decided, upon the recommendation of the joint commissions established between the parties, that the name of the party legal entity, which must be established according to the parliamentary internal regulations for the purpose of a joint group, shall be 'Yeni Yol'."
Stating that the processes regarding the establishment will be initiated by the relevant commission tomorrow, Arıkan noted that the Saadet Party will continue to work in all its activities and organizational efforts under the name "Saadet Party" and with its own organization, remaining committed to the principles of Milli Görüş.
GROUP CHAIRMAN WILL NOT BE A DEPUTY
Each of the Gelecek, Saadet, and DEVA parties will designate 13 founding members, and thus 39 or 40 people will become the founders of the new party. A person who is not a deputy will be appointed as the chairman of the newly established umbrella organization.
When the new party is established, the deputies from the Saadet, Gelecek, and DEVA parties will submit a petition to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) stating that they wish to continue their political activities in the new party, and thus the new party group will be formed and begin operations in the TBMM.
GELECEK PARTY GROUP DEPUTY CHAIRMAN WILL NOT TAKE OFFICE IN THE UMBRELLA
Gelecek Party Group Deputy Chairman İsa Mesih Şahin said that he would not take office in the newly established party and that he had shared this with the Chairman.
Mustafa Yeneroğlu, Burak Dalgın, and Selma Aliye Kavaf have resigned from the DEVA Party.
THE COLLAPSE OF THE SAADET-GELECEK GROUP
The Gelecek-Saadet group had collapsed after Gelecek Party Deputy Nedim Yamalı resigned from his party and joined the AKP.
The group was re-established after Mehmet Emin Ekmen and Ertuğrul Kaya from the DEVA Party joined the Saadet Party.
