‘Detention’ claim following those remarks by İmamoğlu! ‘Judicial circles are saying…’

Journalist Nuray Başaran made striking claims during a live broadcast she attended on TGRT Haber.

Claiming that former İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener called her, Başaran stated, “Akşener told me that the İYİ Party was being hollowed out with the purging of Kılıçdaroğlu. Akşener said, ‘Mesut Özarslan is emptying the İYİ Party by distributing money’ and ‘The İYİ Party is being emptied by awarding major tenders in Istanbul.’ When I asked Meral Hanım again, she said she had filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office.”

On the other hand, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, in a statement made in İzmir where he launched his election campaign, said, “The ruling power has added a new page to its cruelty. I learned yesterday that they have seized the assets and bank accounts of some people, including some of my colleagues, some I know, and some I don't know at all. As I said, there are even those among them I don't know. I suppose they burned them too just because I said hello or because they brushed past me.”

“DETENTIONS AND ARRESTS MAY OCCUR THIS WEEK” CLAIM

Following these statements by İmamoğlu, Başaran suggested that new detentions and arrests could take place in the coming days.

Journalist Nuray Başaran said, “Judicial circles are saying ‘there may be detentions and arrests this week.’ İmamoğlu has somehow been unable to act like a Mayor. He is only trying to move forward by growing anti-Erdoğan sentiment.”

HAD CLAIMED DİLEK İMAMOĞLU WOULD BE NOMINATED

In recent days, Başaran had also claimed that if the fake diploma investigation launched against IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu results in a negative outcome, his wife, Dilek İmamoğlu, would be nominated as the presidential candidate.
