Violence against a dog in Trabzon: Suspect in custody

The incident occurred in the Kaşüstü neighborhood of the district. Following the circulation on social media of footage showing O.D., a livestock farmer in the district, repeatedly abusing a dog in the back of his pickup truck with a rope, he was taken into custody by gendarmerie teams. Municipal teams also took the dog under protection and transported it to an animal shelter.

The Trabzon Governor's Office issued a written statement regarding the rope-based violence against the dog that sparked public outrage. The statement said, "Upon the footage appearing on social media regarding the abuse of a dog, our Governor's Office took immediate action. In the work carried out by our Yomra District Gendarmerie Command under the coordination of our Yomra District Governorate, the individual who committed the act was identified, apprehended, and reported to the public prosecutor's office. Judicial and administrative proceedings have been initiated against the individual in question."
