Türkiye Sigorta has announced that the employment contract of Deputy General Manager Gürol Sami Özer has been terminated. In the company's statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), it was stated that the decision was taken at the Board of Directors meeting on October 26, 2026, and came into effect as of the same day.
It had been reported that Özer was arrested as part of fund investigations conducted regarding transactions carried out in the capital markets in Istanbul. The company's KAP statement came following this development.
Within the scope of the investigation, former Türkiye Sigorta General Manager Taha Çakmak had also been arrested previously. Before being removed from his post in July 2023, Çakmak had served as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, and subsequently became the General Manager of the public insurance company Türkiye Sigorta.
Çakmak, who also previously served as Deputy Chairman of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), had resigned from his position at Türkiye Sigorta at the beginning of October. The company had postponed the announcement of its third-quarter financial results, citing Çakmak's resignation.
