The Capital Markets Board (CMB) has issued a statement regarding allegations that foreign financial institutions closed their existing positions and completely removed certain capital market instruments from their portfolios after achieving high returns in Turkish capital markets.
In a written statement dated October 28, 2026, the Board noted that various claims regarding the activities and investment positions of foreign financial institutions have recently been brought to the agenda in media outlets and social media channels.
The CMB's assessment indicated that statements claiming foreign institutions made "exorbitant profits," exited the market following high gains, closed their existing positions entirely, and sold off certain assets in their portfolios completely were examined. The Board announced that it has been determined that these claims do not reflect the truth.
The statement emphasized that the allegations are not based on concrete information or documentation. The CMB also reported that the opinions of relevant stakeholders are sought during regulatory processes and that its work is carried out within the framework of transparency and predictability principles.
The Board stated that draft and final regulations are announced to the public without discrimination between domestic and foreign investors regarding access to information and are shared simultaneously with all investors.
