While millions of workers and retirees are condemned to starvation wages, the SGK debts of CHP-run municipalities are on the agenda of Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan.

Fulfilling the 'shake down the municipalities' order from AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Işıkhan made statements regarding the SGK debts of municipalities during a live broadcast.

WHICH MUNICIPALITY HAS THE LARGEST DEBT?

Minister Işıkhan stated that the debt of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality has exceeded 12 billion TL.

Labor Minister Işıkhan made statements regarding the SGK premium debts of municipalities. Minister Işıkhan said that the most indebted municipality is İzmir.

Speaking on Habertürk, Minister Işıkhan stated the following:

It was said that the debts of the municipalities amounted to 30 tons of gold. That is not true. The current SGK debt of the municipalities is 167 billion lira, which is approximately 55 tons of gold. It is said that one-third of these debts belong to CHP-run municipalities. This is also wrong. 70 percent of the debts of all municipalities belong to CHP-run municipalities alone. We have all the documents and records regarding these in our possession. Only 14 of the 30 metropolitan municipalities are run by the CHP, but nearly 80 percent, or 76 percent, of the metropolitan debt belongs to CHP-run municipalities.
