Gold was the most profitable investment instrument in January!

When deflated by the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI), the highest real return in January was achieved by bullion gold at 0.35 percent.

Gold was the most profitable investment instrument in January!

The Turkish Statistical Institute has announced the real return rates of financial investment instruments for January. When deflated by the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI), the highest monthly real return was recorded in bullion gold at 0.35 percent. During this period, when deflated by the CPI, bullion gold saw the lowest real loss at a rate of 2.06 percent.

When deflated by the D-PPI, the BIST 100 index caused a loss of 0.58 percent, the dollar 0.71 percent, the euro 0.78 percent, deposit interest (gross) 1.51 percent, and government domestic debt securities (GDDS) 4.76 percent for investors. When deflated by the CPI, losses of 2.96 percent for the BIST 100 index, 3.09 percent for the US dollar, 3.16 percent for the euro, 3.87 percent for deposit interest (gross), and 7.05 percent for GDDS were observed.

In the three-month assessment, bullion gold provided a real return of 7.23 percent when deflated by the D-PPI and 2.37 percent when deflated by the CPI. In the same period, the BIST 100 index experienced a loss of 8.14 percent when deflated by the D-PPI and 12.3 percent when deflated by the CPI.

In the six-month period, the BIST 100 index experienced a real return of 1.76 percent when deflated by the D-PPI and a loss of 8.26 percent when deflated by the CPI. In the same period, GDDS experienced a loss of 28.45 percent when deflated by the D-PPI and 35.5 percent when deflated by the CPI.

When evaluated on an annual basis, bullion gold provided a real return of 22.25 percent when deflated by the D-PPI and 6.93 percent when deflated by the CPI. On an annual basis, when deflated by the D-PPI, the euro provided a real return of 12.4 percent, the dollar 11.03 percent, and the BIST 100 index 5.46 percent, while deposit interest (gross) experienced a loss of 20.98 percent and GDDS a loss of 48.25 percent. When deflated by the CPI, losses of 1.69 percent for the euro, 2.88 percent for the dollar, 7.75 percent for the BIST 100 index, 30.88 percent for deposit interest (gross), and 54.73 percent for GDDS were observed.
