Historic day in the gold market: Ounce and gram hit record highs

Gold prices reached record levels on the first trading day of the week.

In international markets, ounce gold rose to 4,409 dollars, hitting a historic peak. The value increase in ounce gold since the beginning of the year has exceeded 65 percent. This rise was recorded as the sharpest annual increase in the last 46 years since the post-1979 period.

Domestically, gram gold also surpassed the 6,060 TL threshold, setting a new record. The rate of increase in gram gold since the beginning of the year has surpassed 103 percent.

Strengthening expectations that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) could make multiple interest rate cuts in 2026, the continued gold purchases by central banks, and increasing geopolitical risks on a global scale were among the main factors increasing safe-haven demand.

The fact that inflation and employment data announced in the US remained below expectations also supported the expectations that the Fed could cut interest rates next year, reflecting positively on the markets.

Along with gold, the sharp rise in silver prices also drew attention. The ounce price of silver rose to 69.45 dollars, renewing its historic peak. The value gain in silver since the beginning of the year has exceeded 135 percent.
