How did the business world evaluate the Central Bank's interest rate decision?

The Central Bank's decision to cut the policy rate by 150 basis points to 38 percent has resonated in the business world. Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) President Mustafa Gültepe stated that the interest rate cut is a step in the right direction, but costs remain high.

Gültepe said, "We see that the interest rate cut cycle is continuing, but this rate is not sufficient for manufacturing exporters." He also emphasized that this step is a symbolic beginning before 2026 and that interest rates must fall further to increase the competitiveness of industrialists.

Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Chairman of the Board Gürsel Baran evaluated the Central Bank's interest rate cut decision as a positive development in terms of trade, investment, and production. Baran stated that banks should also reflect this cut in the credit market to facilitate businesses' access to finance. Pointing out the importance of the downward trend in inflation continuing, Baran said, "The decline in inflation will increase the mobility of the real sector."

Both presidents emphasized that the interest rate cuts should continue and that it is important for this process to be maintained without interruption. The business world hopes that the difficulties experienced in accessing finance in 2025 can be overcome with such steps.
