Increase in foreign currency accounts continues

According to data published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB), foreign currency deposits increased by 479 million dollars in the week of December 19 when adjusted for parity effects. Of this increase, 29 million dollars originated from individual accounts, while 450 million dollars came from corporate accounts.

On the other hand, according to data from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), there was also a decrease in currency-protected deposits. These deposits fell by 3.3 billion TL, declining to the 8.3 billion TL level.

These data highlight the activity in foreign currency accounts and the trend of currency-protected deposits. The data provided by the TCMB and BDDK are of great importance for monitoring economic trends.
