Lowest pension regulation in the Turkish Parliament: When will the 'increased' monthly payments be deposited?

The process for increasing the lowest pension has entered a new stage in Parliament. The legislative proposal raising the lowest monthly pension to 20 thousand liras has been approved by the Turkish Parliament's Planning and Budget Committee. It is expected that 4 million 917 thousand retirees will benefit from the regulation.

Within the scope of the proposal, an 18.48 percent increase in the lowest pension is envisioned. The base salary, which is currently 16 thousand 881 liras, will rise to 20 thousand liras once the regulation is enacted.

The increase is planned to be financed by Treasury resources. The impact on the budget is calculated to be 66.3 billion liras in the first half of 2026, with a total annual cost of 110.2 billion liras.

SUPPORT PROVIDED TO EMPLOYERS IS BEING EXPANDED

The 13-article content of the proposal also includes increasing the state support provided to employers for the minimum wage to 1 thousand 270 liras.

The legislative proposal will be brought to the agenda of the Turkish Parliament General Assembly on Tuesday.

WHICH MONTH WILL THE INCREASED SALARIES BE DEPOSITED?

Following the entry into force of the regulation, retirees will begin to receive their increased monthly payments. If its publication in the Official Gazette does not coincide with the January period, it is anticipated that a difference payment will be made in February.
