Şamil Tayyar, who met with Mehmet Şimşek, gives a date for the election! Notable behind-the-scenes on retirees and minimum wage...

Former AKP deputy and journalist Şamil Tayyar shared notable assessments regarding both the regulations being worked on by the economic management and the election calendar following his meeting with Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek. Stating that "there is no election even in 2027," Tayyar said that steps to increase purchasing power are taking precedence over salary increases and that the Income Supplementary Support Program (GETAD) could be launched in the new year.

Şamil Tayyar, who met with Mehmet Şimşek, gives a date for the election! Notable behind-the-scenes on retirees and minimum wage...

Former AKP deputy and journalist Şamil Tayyar shared his assessments regarding the agenda of the economic management following his meeting with Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek. Tayyar stated that he does not see a plan for flat-rate raises for retiree pensions and the minimum wage, but that work is being done on certain topics to support purchasing power.

According to Tayyar, for wage earners, retirees, and minimum wage earners, regulations that will reduce the burden on citizens in basic expenditure items such as rent, food, and transportation are coming to the fore in the first stage instead of direct salary increases.

Regarding transportation, it was stated that limiting increases with a “valuation rate” is on the agenda to prevent price hikes above cost inflation. Tayyar wrote that this framework is being evaluated among the steps aimed at protecting the purchasing power of low- and fixed-income segments.

SUPPORT PROGRAM ON THE AGENDA

Another topic that stood out in Tayyar's post was the Income Supplementary Support Program (GETAD). Stating that the program is in the final stage, Tayyar conveyed that the practice, which envisions additional monthly payments to the most disadvantaged segments of society, could begin in the new year.

Tayyar expressed that the scale to be created in this system could also be used in different practices such as holiday bonuses, thus allowing support to be directed more towards low-income groups.

GAVE A DATE FOR THE ELECTION

Making an assessment regarding early elections in relation to the meeting, Tayyar stated that he did not get the impression of any preparation for an election in the near term. Tayyar used the expressions, “From what I understand from our long conversation, let alone 2026, there is no election even in 2027. Policies are being maintained as if the election will be held on time, in April 2028.”

The entirety of Tayyar's post is as follows:

"Many questions have come regarding our meeting with our Minister of Finance and Treasury Mehmet Şimşek.

For example, is there any preparation indicating the possibility of an election soon?

Or what are the regulations that will give the society a breather?

A series of questions.

From what I understand from our long conversation, let alone 2026, there is no election even in 2027.

Policies are being maintained as if the election will be held on time, in April 2028.

So, will the low- and fixed-income earners wait until 2028 to take a deep breath?

I think there is a different understanding at this point.

In the first stage.

There are efforts aimed at increasing purchasing power rather than multiplying wages and salaries or making flat-rate increases.

The focus is mainly on three factors that make life expensive: Rent, food, transportation.

It is thought that a relative increase in income will not be a remedy without making these cheaper.

That is why the 750 thousand social housing project is important.

The food supply chain is being addressed.

There is a question of determining a “valuation rate” to prevent transportation from being hiked more than cost inflation. It will not be possible to make hikes above this rate.

Support will be increased and continued to facilitate access to employment and finance. New packages are on the way.

The income supplementary support program (GETAD) is in the final stage.

The practice of paying an additional “monthly” amount to the most disadvantaged segment of society may begin in the new year.

The scale in this practice could be put into effect in many applications such as holiday bonuses, and the way could be paved for providing opportunities only to low-income groups.

Any other surprises?

They are at the initiative of our President.

The new period is open to all kinds of surprises.

My last sentence:

While the opposition continues its petty squabbling, the government is in a solid state of preparation.

It looks like all conventional wisdom will be shattered."
