AKP Election Affairs Chairman Ali İhsan Yavuz stated that he believes the election will be held after 2028 and provided an assessment regarding Erdoğan's candidacy.
AKP Election Affairs Chairman Ali İhsan Yavuz made statements regarding the election calendar and the potential candidacy of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Journalist Edip Üzen shared the remarks on his social media account following his meeting with Yavuz. According to Üzen, Yavuz stated that he believes the election will be held after 2028.
It would be a renewal of the election. However, even if it is moved up by a week, our President can still be a candidate.
These remarks from Yavuz come at a time when debates continue regarding Erdoğan's potential re-candidacy should the election date be moved forward.
According to Üzen's post, Yavuz also evaluated the AKP's standing in the polls. Claiming that there is currently a 7-8 point gap between the AKP and its closest rival, Yavuz stated, "We are doing better in all polls than we were in the 2023 elections."
