Özel brings allegations of voter transfer in Tokat to the agenda before the election

After visiting Gümüşhane as part of his Anatolian tour, Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel traveled to the town of Çevrecik in Tokat, where he addressed the citizens. Emphasizing that local by-elections should take place in a peaceful and democratic environment, Özel raised serious allegations regarding the voter lists ahead of the election.

In his speech, Özel stated that the town has a total of 2,166 voters, while arguing that an extra 550 people were registered as voters during the period of non-finalized lists. Özel stated, "The ruling party brought 550 voters here who have nothing to do with this place. Names from Trabzon and various factories have been added. These people have not the slightest connection to Çevrecik."

Emphasizing that those living in Çevrecik should decide who will be the mayor, Özel said, "Today, the people of Çevrecik will decide who will govern this town; not those brought in from outside."

Stating that the act of transferring voters means interfering with the electoral will, Özel continued his words as follows: "Bringing people from anywhere in Trabzon who have nothing to do with this village to change the election result is unfair and harms democracy."

Pointing out that all voters and the public should be vigilant to prevent such attempts, Özel also expressed that road construction was left until just before the election and that such services are not sincere.

Özel concluded his speech as follows: "If the person who will govern is to be elected by the nation, not appointed by the palace, that is called democracy."

The by-election in Çevrecik will take place soon under the shadow of these allegations. Developments regarding the debate on transported voters, which the CHP leader brought to the agenda, and its impact on election results and public opinion will continue to be closely monitored.
