Çekirge State Hospital, which has served in Bursa for 56 years, admitted patients for the last time in its current building. The relocation process began following the final procedures performed at the hospital on Friday, October 23.
The closing day was marked by emotional moments for hospital staff and citizens. As staff who had worked in the same building for many years bid farewell to the hospital, local residents also reminisced about the past following the closure of the healthcare institution they had grown accustomed to.
Healthcare services are intended to continue at the Ali Osman Sönmez State Hospital in Acemler as part of the relocation process. In addition to general healthcare services, the new hospital is planned to provide services in the fields of oncology, obstetrics, and pediatrics.
Regarding the future of the building that will be vacated in Çekirge, different options are on the agenda. Local news reports indicate that the option of utilizing the structure as a "Well-being Center" is being discussed, and that a proposal to convert it into a physical therapy hospital is planned to be submitted to the Ministry of Health.
