Retirees' 'flat-rate' response to AKP: 'The result wouldn't have been this bad'
Hürriyet newspaper columnist Abdulkadir Selvi pointed to the lack of a flat-rate pension increase as the reason for the AKP's election defeat, stating, "The voters cast their ballots for the CHP for the exact same reason they withheld them from the ruling party. It's that clear."
Hürriyet newspaper columnist Abdulkadir Selvi commented on the poor results the AKP received in the March 31 local elections.
Selvi wrote, "A sound assessment was not made after the 2019 local elections. I hope this time the election results are not viewed merely as numbers. So, what would the result have been if President Erdoğan had taken the demands of retirees into account and announced a flat-rate raise? At the very least, it wouldn't have been this bad."
"THEY VOTED FOR THE CHP FOR THE SAME REASON"
Commenting on the CHP's election success, Selvi stated, "There is no need for grand analyses to understand the voters' preference. The voters cast their ballots for the CHP for the exact same reason they withheld them from the ruling party. It's that clear."
