Chief Advisor to the President Mehmet Uçum made notable assessments regarding the potential election calendar and the candidacy of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
According to journalist Sinan Burhan, Uçum stated that he anticipates the elections will be held on April 16, 2028. Uçum expressed that this date carries symbolic meaning as it coincides with the anniversary of the referendum that enabled the transition to the Presidential Government System.
It was reported that Uçum said, “I anticipate the elections will be held on April 16, 2028. This date is the date of the referendum for our transition to the presidential system. It has a symbolic meaning. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will be a candidate for the last time.”
Mehmet Uçum had previously brought up the date of April 16, 2028, in an article he published on June 25, 2026, pointing to the symbolic importance of the election date.
