AKOM issues warning: Temperatures in Istanbul to drop sharply
Although Istanbul residents are starting the new week with sunshine, a sharp drop in temperatures is expected due to a cold wave that will take effect in the coming days.
The Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) stated in a report that the city will soon come under the influence of cold weather. While the air temperature is around 17°C on Monday, it will drop rapidly toward the weekend. It was noted that, starting from Friday in particular, temperatures will decrease by 5-6 degrees suddenly, falling below seasonal norms.
While thermometers are expected to show a high of 8°C on Friday, the temperature is expected to drop to 7°C on Saturday. Between 5 and 15 kilograms of rainfall is forecast throughout the weekend. Authorities warn that following intermittent rain showers, heavy precipitation and sudden temperature drops over the weekend could lead to disruptions in transportation and daily life.
