A lynx family wandering near the railway on the road to Kalın Train Station, approximately 15 kilometers from Sivas city center, was captured on a mobile phone camera.
Citizens who noticed movement in the grass in the area saw a male lynx searching for food in a wooded area as they approached. The lynx, which moved along the railway for a while, later disappeared from view.
Metin Öztürk, who filmed the lynx, stated that he saw another adult lynx and two cubs at a further distance. Öztürk suggested that the lynxes might have built a den in the area because it is remote and far from residential settlements.
Stating that the lynxes appeared to be in good health, Öztürk said, “It was most likely a group consisting of a mother, father, and two cubs. We have been living in this region for 52 years, and this is the first time we have encountered such an event.”
