The flavors of the Aegean meet the enthusiasm of Marmaris

The Marmaris Seafood Festival, organized under the leadership of the Marmaris Municipality, has come to an end. Bringing together the natural beauty of Selimiye, the richness of Aegean cuisine, and the cultural values of the region, it offered visitors a colorful festival experience in its second year.

Organized for the second time under the leadership of the Marmaris Municipality and with the contributions of local tradespeople, businesses, and the local community, the Marmaris Seafood Festival provided a feast of gastronomy and culture in Selimiye for three days. The festival, where seafood took center stage, offered visitors unforgettable moments with culinary events, chef meet-ups, talks, music, and dance performances.

Throughout the festival, the streets of Selimiye became a meeting point for music, dance, and gastronomy. Live cooking demonstrations, seafood tastings, workshops, and talks held throughout the day attracted great interest.

Guest chefs from Germany, Croatia, and Rhodes, as well as from Turkey, presented local products of Aegean and Marmaris cuisine to visitors with different interpretations.

Creative recipes prepared with fish, shellfish, and various seafood from the fertile waters were among the most notable events of the festival. The demonstrations where chefs showcased their mastery in the kitchen received intense interest from gastronomy enthusiasts.

A 'don't buy, adopt' event was also held as part of the festival. The area featuring dogs cared for at the Marmaris Animal Care and Rehabilitation Center attracted great attention. The adoption of these little friends at that moment brought great joy.

ENTHUSIASM OF MUSIC AND DANCE IN SELİMİYE

The last day of the festival also hosted colorful events. The day, which started with a yoga event and a SUP board demonstration held at Sığ Liman, continued with music and dance in Selimiye.

Visitors had a great time with Sirtaki performances, Selimiye wedding music accompanied by drums and zurna, and Greek melodies performed by YasuGreekBand. The festival concluded with a stage performance by Batuhan Şaraplı.

WE WANT TO PROMOTE THE RICHNESS OF MARMARIS TO THE WORLD

Stating that the festival is important not only for making Marmaris's gastronomic potential visible but also for contributing to local producers, fishermen, tradespeople, and the regional economy, Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü expressed his satisfaction with the festival, which received intense interest over the three days.

Mayor Ünlü said, “Marmaris has a great richness not only with its sea but also with its nature, culture, and cuisine. By starting this festival last year, we wanted to introduce this richness to both Turkey and the world.

The intense participation from many provinces and districts, as well as Marmaris, this year showed that we are on the right track. We had a beautiful three days, full of joy at every moment.

I would like to thank all our institutions, businesses, tradespeople, chefs, and fellow citizens who contributed to our festival.”
