Blackmail allegation enters investigation file in suspicious death of Dr. Özlem Gültekin
In the investigation into the death of Op. Dr. Özlem Gültekin, whose lifeless body was found in her clinic in İzmir, allegations of secret recordings and a 10,000-dollar demand have come to light.
A new allegation has emerged in the investigation into the death of 48-year-old Op. Dr. Özlem Gültekin, whose lifeless body was found at the clinic where she worked in İzmir on August 14. The file, which the prosecutor's office is handling as a suspicious death, includes statements submitted to judicial authorities by presenter Erhan Çelik, who was in the process of divorcing Gültekin.
In the criminal complaint Çelik filed with the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was claimed that Gültekin was addicted to certain narcotic drugs used in anesthesia. According to NTV, legal proceedings have also been initiated against individuals alleged to have played a role in the procurement and use of these substances.
Another allegation that has entered the file concerns an attempted blackmail. It was alleged that Y.S., a Turkmenistan national who worked in Gültekin's home, recorded secret footage purportedly showing the doctor using substances and attempted to sell these images to Erhan Çelik for 10,000 dollars.
It was stated that following the notification of the situation to the İzmir Police Department, an operation was organized in which Y.S. was caught red-handed while attempting to hand over the footage. It was noted that Y.S., who was referred to court after police processing, was initially arrested, but was released in a subsequent hearing on the condition of judicial control and a travel ban.
It was stated that while Gültekin's death was initially evaluated as a sudden heart attack, the file was reclassified as a suspicious death after drugs with narcotic active ingredients, which are subject to green prescriptions, were discovered during examinations at her home and clinic. An autopsy report from the İzmir Council of Forensic Medicine is awaited to determine the exact cause of death.
