Bribery investigation in Antalya: 2 police chiefs detained

Two police chiefs have been detained in Antalya as part of an investigation launched into allegations of bribery involving public officials.

In the operation initiated by the Antalya Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch and the Intelligence Branch, lawyer R.K., who was noted to have a criminal record, and I.Ü., who works at the same law firm, were detained on September 11, 2026.

A preliminary examination of digital materials belonging to the suspect I.Ü. revealed data believed to have been transferred by the lawyer R.K. The investigation identified records concerning 3rd Class Police Chief O.U., his wife N.U., 4th Class Police Chief E.D.E., S.G., who was stated to be in contact with O.U., and M.A.S., who is currently a fugitive.

In line with the initial findings, judicial proceedings were initiated against police chiefs O.U. and E.D.E. due to data deemed to potentially contain criminal elements, and detention warrants were issued.

It was learned that the two police chiefs have been removed from their posts and reassigned to the personnel pool. It was reported that the investigation and apprehension efforts are ongoing.
