Exhumation day in the Kaşif Kozinoğlu case
An examination will be conducted at the Ümraniye Cemetery for former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who passed away in Silivri Prison in 2011.
A new phase has been reached in the investigation into the 2011 death of former National Intelligence Organization (MİT) officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu in Silivri Prison. Upon the request of the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an exhumation will be performed today at the Ümraniye Cemetery to determine the definitive cause of Kozinoğlu's death and to investigate whether there was any third-party interference.

It has been learned that the procedure will be carried out by a delegation consisting of 3 forensic medicine experts, 1 chemist, and 1 autopsy technician. The delegation is expected to collect bone, soil, and other necessary samples from the remains.
FORENSIC MEDICINE INSTITUTE TO PREPARE AN OPINION
It was stated that in addition to the samples to be collected during the prosecution process, security camera footage from the penal institution, 112 emergency records, and hospital documents will be evaluated together. Following the examinations, the First Specialization Board of the Council of Forensic Medicine is expected to issue an opinion regarding the definitive cause of Kozinoğlu's death and whether there was any third-party interference.

Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who served as the MİT Chief Advisor for the Asia Region, passed away in Silivri Prison on November 12, 2011, during his 8th month of detention, shortly before his scheduled testimony in a FETÖ conspiracy case. At the time, his cause of death was announced as a heart attack.

Within the scope of the file reopened years later, detention warrants were issued for 20 suspects, including one who is a FETÖ fugitive abroad. In the second wave of operations conducted yesterday as part of the investigation, 9 people were detained.

While it was decided to arrest 1 of the individuals detained within the scope of the operation, 8 people were released under judicial control conditions. The exhumation and the forensic medicine examination are expected to be among the decisive factors in the course of the investigation.
