Urgent appeal from Murat Çalık's lawyer: Health condition not suitable for prison

Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık continues to experience serious health problems during his time in prison.

Having overcome cancer twice, Çalık has lost 20 kilograms in prison and is currently receiving treatment in the hematology ward of İzmir City Hospital. His lawyer, Melih Koçhan, stated that Çalık's health condition is not suitable for prison conditions and called for his release.

HEALTH CONDITION REMAINS SERIOUS

Çalık's hospital process began on June 20 at İzmir Katip Çelebi University Hospital and has been ongoing for 44 days. Çalık, who has been receiving treatment at İzmir City Hospital since July 18, is staying in a ward with a high risk of infection where immunocompromised patients are kept.

In this section, entry is only possible with special protective equipment, and visits can only be conducted under limited conditions.

Koçhan stated that Çalık's health condition cannot be maintained under prison conditions, saying, "This is not just a medical necessity, but also a legal reality and a humanitarian responsibility." Emphasizing that Çalık should be released due to his health condition, Koçhan called on the authorities to take action without delay.
