In an incident that occurred yesterday evening at around 19:13 in the Sultangazi district of Istanbul, 43-year-old textile worker Tuncay Sağ went to the home of his ex-wife Pınar Bektaş, whom he had divorced in May after 18 years of marriage.

An argument broke out between Tuncay Sağ, who had gone to the house to see their 3 children—1 boy and 2 girls—and Pınar Bektaş.

SHE THREW A GLASS OUTSIDE AND CALLED FOR HELP

Allegedly, when Tuncay Sağ attacked 42-year-old Pınar Bektaş, the young woman threw a glass out of the window and shouted for help. Upon this, Tuncay Sağ fired the blank-firing gun he had brought with him. When the gun broke during the incident, he stabbed his ex-wife, whom he had already wounded, and then slit her throat.

It was learned that it was the birthday of the murdered Pınar Bektaş yesterday.

SHE HAD FILED COMPLAINTS TWICE

Upon reports from citizens, police and ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

It was learned that Pınar Bektaş had filed 2 complaints during their marriage in October 2022 and April 2023, but there were no protection or restraining orders in place.

After the incident, he went to the police station and turned himself in with the 9 mm blank-firing gun that had broken during the incident and 1 knife.

Following his interrogation at the Public Security Branch Office's Murder Bureau, Tuncay Sağ was referred to the courthouse.
