Renowned painter Kerem Durukan (34) passed away in his home in Beyoğlu, Istanbul on February 10, 2021.
An exhibition will be held in Istanbul in memory of Durukan, whose sudden death left the art community in mourning.
The exhibition titled "Daima Genç / Forever Young" will be presented to art lovers in 2024.
The curator of the exhibition is Marcus Graf.
WHO IS KEREM DURUKAN?
Kerem Durukan was born in Afyonkarahisar in 1987. He completed his undergraduate education at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Industrial Product Design.
Having subsequently continued his education for many years in the Graphic Design Department of the same university, Durukan studied Visual Communication Design and Contemporary Art at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in Germany during the 2010-2011 academic year.
The artist took part in various solo and group exhibitions as well as art and design projects; he worked in many magazines, agencies, and design offices.
Following his exhibition held by invitation at the Bilkent Library Art Gallery in 2018, he decided to pursue his career as a full-time artist and dedicated his life to it.
The young painter also participated in the ''Sanata Bi Yer'' project, a social responsibility platform belonging to Doğuş Group, with the motto ''Because Art Needs Space''.
Kerem Durukan was found dead in his home in Istanbul on February 10, 2021.
