As cash needs are frequently met through ATMs during these hot days, fraudsters continue to develop new methods. Experts point out that being vigilant against various risks, ranging from card skimming devices to hidden cameras, plays a key role in preventing victimization.

Fraudsters can often copy card information using special devices they attach to the card entry slot of ATMs. If any looseness, extra parts, discoloration, or an apparatus that looks like it was added later is noticed at the card entry point, it is recommended to avoid using that ATM.

Fake panels placed over keypads are among the methods fraudsters use to obtain PINs. If the keys feel thicker or looser than usual, or if there is an unusual sensation when touching them, it is worth being suspicious. Additionally, covering the keypad with your other hand while entering your PIN reduces the risk of being recorded by a camera.

Hidden cameras are often placed above the ATM screen or in the brochure holder. If a small hole or a lens-like protrusion is detected, it is advised that users immediately terminate the transaction and head to a secure ATM.

In some fraud cases, the card is intentionally jammed inside the ATM. In such a situation, one should not panic; it is essential to contact the bank's customer service without leaving the device and request that the card be blocked.

Attention should also be paid to individuals standing suspiciously around the ATM, persistently offering help, or following users. If the environment does not feel secure or if any suspicion arises, the transaction should be performed at another ATM.
