Star Wars robot sold for 27 million liras
The head of the C-3PO robot, portrayed by Anthony Daniels in Star Wars, was recently put up for auction. The piece, which belonged to Daniels, was sold for 843,750 dollars (approximately 27 million liras).
While Star Wars, one of the legendary franchises of the cinema world, continues its adventures with new films and series set in its universe, memorabilia from the original films are also being sold for record prices.
Most recently, the head of C-3PO, portrayed by Anthony Daniels, was put up for auction and found a buyer for approximately 27 million liras.
The piece, which dates back to the 1983 film Return of the Jedi, reached six-figure sums at the auction house Propstore Auction.
Propstore officials stated that the head appeared on camera in many scenes of the third film in the series, which was directed by Richard Marquand and written by Lawrence Kasdan and George Lucas.
'YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE MY FACE, BUT...'
In a statement to the press, Daniels described the fame he experienced thanks to the robot, saying: "This is not just an accessory I wore, but also an accessory I used to introduce myself in interviews. 'You don't recognize my face, but you know this face.'"
'NOBODY VALUED THEM'
Daniels also expressed that he felt emotional while selling the items he had owned for decades:
"I have been living with these items for 50 years, and I have very mixed feelings about some of them. Almost all of these items were in closets, drawers, and the attic. Nobody was looking at them, nobody valued them. And they are too good to be thrown in the trash."
