Passenger bus engulfed in flames

A passenger bus traveling from Ordu to Istanbul caught fire in the Boztepe Tunnel following repairs at an industrial site. There were no casualties in the fire, and 37 passengers were safely evacuated. An investigation into the incident has been launched.

The incident occurred at approximately 17:45 at the exit of the Boztepe Tunnel on the New Ring Road, in the direction of Samsun. According to the information obtained, a fire broke out in the rear section of the passenger bus with license plate 52 ED 334, operated by Servet Ç. and belonging to Fındıkkale Turizm, prompting the driver to pull the vehicle over to the emergency lane on the right side of the road.

Upon notification, police, fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The fire was extinguished as a result of the rapid intervention by the fire department. During this time, all 37 passengers on board were evacuated without injury.

Meanwhile, passengers stated that the bus, which had departed from the Gölköy district of Ordu, had broken down on the road and was repaired at an industrial site. The passengers claimed that they left the industrial site after approximately 2 hours of repairs, and the fire broke out a short while later.

Passenger Ayhan Demirel said, "The bus was faulty; it was repaired in Ordu. We left there, and by the time we got here, it started burning in the tunnel. Thank God there were no casualties; half of the bus burned. We were heading to Istanbul after the holiday."

Istanbul-bound passenger Erdoğan Çaya stated, "The vehicle broke down; they said a turbo hose had burst. It was repaired afterward, there was a lot of oil leakage, and the mechanic cleaned it. We entered the tunnel and smoke appeared; thank God the driver acted practically, intervened, and evacuated the people. Thank God there were no casualties or injuries."

Police and gendarmerie teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
