Teacher suspended after allegedly calling veiled student 'Karabaş'
A teacher has been suspended in Hatay following an investigation launched after an 11-year-old veiled student alleged that she was subjected to the term 'Karabaş' by her teacher.
The incident took place in the Erzin district of Hatay.
According to the allegations, 11-year-old H.K., a 5th-grade student at a middle school in the district, was addressed by her science teacher as 'Turn around, Karabaş' while she turned around to get a pen from a classmate during class.
Unable to hold back her tears after hearing the words in front of her classmates, the veiled student, H.K., told her father about the situation when she got home.

Her father, Harun K. (35), filed a verbal complaint with the school administration and the District Directorate of National Education, and a written complaint with CİMER, upon hearing what had happened.
It has been learned that the teacher, who allegedly used the term 'Karabaş', has been suspended as part of the investigation launched by the Hatay Governor's Office following the complaints.
